Choreographed Multi-Home Display Includes Over 40,000 Lights, Virtual Santa, Special Effects and More – benefiting the Hilltop Church HOPE BANK.
Providence Village, Texas (October 1, 2008) – Light show designer and Vaderville creator Darren Vader today announced that the debut light show of the 2008 holiday season will take place at 6pm on Friday, November 28th.
The Vaderville synchronized light show is made up of three neighboring houses pulsating in sync with more than 40,000 lights and special effects running on 80 computer controlled channels of animation. Highlights include a virtual Santa (who makes live appearances on weekends closer to Christmas), dozens of strobe lights, virtual snow machines, and animated video clips– all synchronized to a play list of unique versions of classic holiday songs being broadcast over an FM transmitter at 107.3fm on the dial.
Vader and his neighbors have been hard at work on their 2008 show since early March. “The technology that drives a show like ours is very cool, but it’s only a small part of the preparation equation. Every beat of every song is manually assigned to a position within a sequence, video is edited, layouts are created, props are built, and prototypes are tested. We spend about eight to nine months preparing for the 35 days or so that the show will run.”
“Our annual Christmas light show is the most important thing we do all year long. Our strong belief in ‘paying it forward’ is facilitated to a great degree by the absolute joy we see every night on the faces of visitors young and old alike,” said Vader. “This year we are partnering with Firehouse Christmas Lighting and the Hilltop Church HOPE BANK to collect donations of clothing and non-perishable food items that will help some local families have a brighter holiday.”
Vaderville is located off Highway 380 just east of Denton at 1441 Providence Blvd., Providence Village, Texas, 76227. Show times are Sunday – Thursday, 6pm-10pm and weekends from 6pm-11pm; weather permitting. This is a residential display, so admission is free. If you enjoy the display, please consider making a donation of non-perishable food items or clothing to the HOPE BANK. Donations can be placed in the collection bin at the front of the display. See www.vaderville.com for more information.

So my wife asked me last summer to help her start a home-based business. preferably something online e-commerce oriented. Selling something she had an interest in. So, we opted to build an online store selling scrapbooking supplies. My first thought was “what the…” I don’t know the last thing about all this frilly ribboned embellishment and fancy paper muckety muck.
That’s how the story started - and now here I sit, every day more amazed at how absolutely possessed I am with the idea of getting my chosen search term “Scrapbooking Supplies” tagged to my domain at ScrapbookingSuppliesEtc.com - to pop up on the first page of Goggle’s search results for the phrase. I’ve been successful thus far - currently landing on page 2 of the results at live.com and msn search. I have a feeling that with the next round of Google updates I’ll have a pretty good start there as well.
And so it has come to pass that a wanna-be redneck - while mowing the lawn and tendering caressing a Miller Light - can’t seem to stop thinking about anything but the 60-80% margin on fluffy pretty stuff that adorns the pages of scrapbooks alongside so many baby’s, pets and vacation photos.
amazing.
Ciao.

Dallas, TX, May 9, 2008 - St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility anywhere. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. In an effort to add a little sunshine to the lives of St. Jude patients, the members of the Cricut user community are collecting donations of handmade cards. Some of the cards will be given to the children and others will be donated to the hospital gift shop to help raise additional research dollars.
There are currently over 300 members involved, with more signing up every day. As a way to encourage participation, the group is offering four grand prize ‘thank you’ drawings, sponsored in part by Scrapbooking Supplies Etc. by CropJunkie.com. Card makers will receive one entry in the drawing for each card donated. The prize package consists of hundreds and hundreds of scrapbooking, card making and other crafting supplies donated by members of the Cricut message board and online scrapbooking supplies retailers including Scrapbooking Supplies Etc. by CropJunkie.com, Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps and ScrapYourTrip.com
“It is not too late to join in this project. Each card sent in equals one ticket in the drawing. You can also donate prize items and those will each get you one ticket in the drawing as well,” said project co-developer Marcia Fix.
The group expects to deliver more than 5,000 hand made cards to St. Jude Hospital in Memphis on July 12, 2008. The grand prize drawing will also be held on July 12.
“St. Jude’s does so much to help children and their families from all over the world regardless of their personal, financial, ethnic, or religious backgrounds,” said project co-developer Carol Gough Lust “This is our opportunity to help them in their efforts.”
If you would like to participate in the Cards for Kids project benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by either creating and donating hand made cards or by donating thank you prizes for the participants, please contact Carol Gough Lust at CarolDGough@aol.com. The donation deadline is June 20. 2008.
About St Jude Children’s Research Hospital: http://www.stjude.org/about
St. Jude Hospital is where some of today’s most gifted researchers are able to do more science, more quickly. Where doctors across the world send their toughest cases and most vulnerable patients. Where no one pays for treatment beyond what is covered by insurance, and those without insurance are never asked to pay. We’ve built America’s 3rd-largest health-care charity, with a model that keeps the costs down and the funds flowing, so the science never stops.
